3C at the Waldschule
On Thursday, November 6th, class 3C spent a beautiful, sunny morning at the Ottakringer Waldschule. After getting off the bus at the Steinhof fire station, we set about snacking, playing in leaves, and running around until our forest guide Hans arrived. Hans took us on a hike through the Ottakringer forest, teaching us along the way about local plants and animals.
Soon we arrived at the Jubiläumswarte, where many students had the courage to brave the wind and climb to the top, where they were rewarded with marvelous views of the city. Afterwards, Hans made us some organic fruit tea. Then students got to look at various taxidermied models of animals and examine animal fur and antlers firsthand. We sorted and identified the leaves we collected along the way and examined them under a microscope. Then Hans told us about counting tree rings and what animals do in winter.
We ended our trip by roasting sausages over a camp fire before heading back to school, exhausted. What a great day!
